Vampire's Fall: Origins Unknown meta?

So I've been playing and this has been bothering me for a while, so early game I got two katanas and just recked ass with the bleed no big deal right? Then I got to online and outside of the tutorial, regardless of what I or my opponent did, as long as my hits landed they were garunteed to die within three bleed outs, even in the duels I've destroyed people with two low tier katanas, is this me stumbling upon an unknown meta, the game neglecting katana stats, or just pure luck on my part?

Piercing worth it for pve

Is piercing worth investing in for pve or should i stick with my slashing weapons or go too blunt any tips would be much appreciated
